A refined, subtle nose of dark cherry and oak spices swirled with hints of wild sage and sweet bay belies the magical elixir to follow. The silken entry quickly gives way to richly textured, integrated flavors. Boysenberry compote, mulberry, acai and brambly-edged plum fuse with traces of sweet tobacco, violet and anise. The tannin-oak structure gently caresses the wine, like an iron fist in a velvet glove. Just a kiss of vanilla and bittersweet cocoa appears, enhancing the moment the wine lingers.

So lovely to sip, you’ll want to share it with a beach view, or a roaring fire and someone very special. Yet, it will be equally at home when paired with herb-encrusted rack of lamb served with roasted baby red potatoes, or roast squab with bacon and grapes.

AVA: Alexander Valley

Composition: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon & 14% Cabernet Franc

Production: 50 cases

Winemaking: The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented with native yeast in open top fermenters. The resulting wine was aged for 22 months in Taransaud barrels and bottled unfined.

Recommended Cellaring: 3-15 years
